Buffie’s Family BBQ

I had a great time photographing Buffie and her family at their July 5th family get-together! I met Buffie while attending business classes through the Washburn University Small Business Development Center and I did some photos last year with her daughter and sister.

This year when she called and said they were having a large family gathering and would I come and take some family photos I jumped at the chance!

And for any ladies looking to tone up and get in shape, I’d like to point out that Buffie owns and operates Simply Hers Fitness, an all-womens fitness center, check out her web site for more information!

Senior Questionnaire and a bit about me…with a twist!

As part of the consultation session with each of the seniors I photograph I usually run through a list of questions to get a better idea of what each individual is about. This process helps me tailor the plans for their photo sessions and make suggestions for clothing, locations, accessories, etc.

Today I decided to post my list of questions here in order to give anyone who is considering booking me an idea of what I ask so that they might be better prepared with ideas at their consultation. Seniors, consider this an open-book test :)

However, here’s the twist – I’m not just posting a blank, sample questionnaire, but a completely filled-in one that I answered myself. This way you not only get the questions that I’ll be asking, but a little insight into your prospective photographer as well! For better or worse, click the link below to access the MY senior questionnaire! You’ll need the free Adobe Reader program installed on your computer to open this as it’s in PDF format:

Denizens of my pond…

Sorry for the lack of updates the last couple weeks, I’ve been busy trying to catch up on processing all my senior and family photos. More posts coming this week, I promise!

In the meantime, enjoy a few photos of the inhabitants of my pond this summer. No photos of the fish (about beautiful 22-25 goldfish) or the occasional snake that slithers by, but it proves that I occasionally photograph things other than people! People are still my favorite subjects, though!

BLOG update…Slideshows!

I’ve added a new feature to {z} blog, the ability to view all the photos from any post as a slideshow!

At the bottom of each blog post with photos there should now be a link that says “Start Slide Show with PicLens Lite”. If you are viewing this blog with Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari web browsers, a window will pop open and display the photos for that post in a slideshow!

Where this functionality really shines is if you take the time to install the free Piclens plug-in for your browser. This can be downloaded and installed automatically by visiting http://www.piclens.com or simply clicking on the link in the upper right-hand corner of the slideshow window that says “SEE THIS IN 3D”.

I hope you enjoy this added functionality, I’d welcome any feedback you might have on this.

No-fear Nick!

OK, I’m sure his friends and family don’t call him that, but after his senior session this past weekend, I’m certainly going to! Nick was all over the place and a blast to work with, here’s a selection of photos from his session:

{z} Newsletter!

As a way of keeping my clients better informed about events and promotions happening at {z} Studio I’ve created a newsletter that you can subscribe and have delivered to your in-box via e-mail.

{z} Newsletter will be delivered approximately once every 4-6 weeks and will contain the latest happenings around the studio, helpful tips for making the most of your photo session and special pricing and promotions available only to {z} Newsletter subscribers.

Now, because there are few things in this modern world that I dislike more than unsolicted e-mail “spam” and because I value my client’s privacy I am not going to automatically sign up any past or present clients to receive {z} Newsletter, you have to go and subscribe yourself. It’s quick and it’s free, absolutely no charge whatsoever and you can un-subscribe at any time.

Ready to sign up? Great, then head on over to the sign-up page on my web site here:

The first issue will be sent out in mid-July so don’t delay!
