Zoo Photography Class coming up!

As most of my clients know I started out as a wildlife and sports photographer and still enjoy photographing wildlife whenever I get the chance.

To that end I’ve partnered with the World Famous Topeka Zoo to periodically teach Zootography classes and our next one is coming up on October 11th from 8:00 a.m. – noon! We’ll spend the first hour in the outstanding educational building classroom and then venture out into the zoo to actually make some images. I’ll be on hand to answer both general photography questions as well as specific questions about animal and wildlife photography.

We limit the class to 15 people to keep things managable and it is targeted at adults and teens. Right now there are still some slots available, the cost of the class is only $10 per person and you can get a registration form here. The actual class description is online as well, you can read it here (scroll down). The zoo is a great place for all kinds of photography and I encourage everyone to come out and support the work they do. And hey, as a bonus you get to hang out with a cool guy like me for half a day!

Hope to see you there!

Morgan

Meet Morgan, another awesome senior from SHHS that I was fortunate enough to photograph a couple weekends ago. Just don’t ask her about my driving skills!

Women of WSU

For the past several years my friend Amber Odell, a talented photographer herself, has produced and photographed the Women of Washburn University calendar. This year she asked me to take her photograph for the back of the 2009 calendar which I was all too happy to do for her!

The official calendar will be unveiled this Friday night (Aug. 22nd) at Bullfrogs in Topeka from 9:00-midnight. If you can’t make it, go to Amber’s web site and order your copy today!

Oh, and here’s a sneak peak at the back-cover pic, and yes, Amber should probably be IN the calendar instead of producing it.

McGrath Family Photos

Sunday morning I had the opportunity to photograph the McGrath family in front of a really cool old car that looked like it’d been parked since about 1920. Jan had actually found the location, all I had to do was show up and shoot! (Hmmm, mental note – figure out a way to get all my clients to do their own location scouting…)

This came after Morgan’s senior session the day before, props to her for being up and looking as good and awake as the rest of the family! Stay tuned for images from Morgan’s senior session in a couple of days.

Smarker Family

I’ve known Dennis for the last 11 years and was very pleased when he asked me to do a quick session of his family this weekend. They were great to work with and we had a very relaxed session on the KU campus in Lawrence. For those of you who know me, yes I got lost over there, but my GPS and a quick cell phone call to Dennis got me to where I need to be!

The Salyer Family

Still getting caught up from vacation, but here are a few images from the Salyer family session I did last night.
