Ok, I’m no longer lost in LA (Lousiana for those of you who thought I was in Los Angeles), I’m now lost in Florida! I finished the first seminar, had a blast and made some new friends. Here’s the group, remember I’ll be back home on the April 5th!:

For the next two weeks I’ll be driving down to Louisiana and over to Florida for a couple of photography workshops and to spend some time with a friend. I’ll be reachable on the studio phone and e-mail only intermittently and will obviously not be scheduling any sessions during this time. The studio will return to normal schedule and operations on Monday, April 6th.
Thanks everyone!
Brent
Kasha brought her parents in to the studio yesterday for some 6-month baby photos and some updated family photos. Kasha did SO good during the session it made our job easy to get some really cute images!

Another stunning and fashionable senior from Highland Park High School! Special thanks and shout-outs to her boyfriend Spencer and friends Amber and David who helped out during the session a bit! Brittney was into soccer, cheer and was a member of the royal court this year, so we had lots of outfit and set changes! Just a few of my favorites, there were so many great images to pick from!

Ok, I’m tired of all the gloom and doom of this recession. Every day it’s something new, more people who have tried to do the right thing getting hurt one way or another. Of course, this has been going on for a while, so what’s motivating me to write this post?
This afternoon all Topeka Chamber of Commerce Members were informed that the Certificheck program that the Chamber had participated in has ceased operations as of Friday, making all the checks completely worthless. The Chamber is working on several possibilities to try and provide some value to consumers who purchased these, but for now all of the Chamber Members are being directed to “…NOT accept CertifiChecks or deposit them in your bank as they will be returned.” The message to the holders of these is “…your CertifiChecks will not be honored at participating retailers.”
Forget that. Seriously, I’m not letting my friends, neighbors, business associates and other members of the Topeka and Shawnee County communities completely take it in the shorts on this. Everyone these days is walking around wondering what they can do in this time of economic turmoil, well here’s what I’m doing:
Bring in any of these Certifichecks that has a face value of over $5 (yup, just 5 bucks) before May 1st and in exchange we’ll give you a free family, children’s or pet photo session, normally $99. Need a business portrait session? We’ll give you half off our regular business package price of $199, just $99 for the session, 8×10 print and one digitial file! Senior photos coming up? Take $125 off any senior package when you book your session before May 1st.
Those of you who took advantage of this program in good faith to support your local businesses should not be left out in the cold, and I challenge all the other Chamber members to find a way to step up and return that support back to the community.
Ok, I like to keep this site focused on photography so I’m stepping down off the soap box…for now. (I did title this post #1, that implies a series, right?)
